What belongs on a gutter invoice?

Break the footage out by elevation - front, rear, garage side - instead of one house-wide number, because each of those is a separate run and every future repair call names one of them. Each run gets its outlet count and drop size (2x3 or 3x4), elbow count, and miters split inside from outside, since miters and outlets are per-each parts and per-each labor. Name the hanger style and its spacing on center, tighter where snow sits. Record the pitch you set on each run, dropping from the high end down to the outlet. Cleaning lines need the story count for that elevation, plus a separate line for pulling guards and putting them back. Guards get a brand, a profile, and micro-mesh or screen. Three gutter invoicing mistakes that cost you

Three mistakes cost gutter crews real money. First, burying guard removal and reinstall inside a cleaning line - micro-mesh comes off screw by screw and goes back the same way, and a customer looking at one line reading gutter cleaning has no idea two hours of it were guards. Second, billing a reseal and re-pitch with no scope limit: you sealed two corners and re-hung one sagging section, but a line that reads only repair tells the customer the whole house was made watertight, so name the seams and the run you touched and say which runs you did not. Third, leaving guard terms off entirely. A manufacturer clog-free claim belongs to the manufacturer, and if the invoice never says who covers a return trip and when, every later clog turns into a free ladder day for you.

How do I bill a gutter cleaning when the guards have to come off?

As two lines, never one. Does the 811 locate ticket belong on an underground downspout tie-in invoice?

Yes - put the ticket number and the locate date right on that line. Calling 811 before you dig applies everywhere in the US, so a buried drain line billed without it reads like you skipped the call. Add trench depth, pipe diameter, solid versus corrugated, the discharge point, and how far from the foundation it ends. Reference a photo of the open trench with the pipe seated in it before backfill. Buried work is invisible the day after you drive off, and this invoice is the only surviving record of what is actually down there.
