As many as it carries, which is rarely one. An entry set with a keyed knob under a deadbolt is two cylinders; swap that deadbolt for a double-cylinder and the same leaf is three. A storefront is a rim cylinder in the exit device plus a mortise cylinder in the hookbolt deadbolt beside it — two parts, two prices, one door to the customer. Write cylinder on the line so the count is visible. Interchangeable cores are their own unit — a small format core comes out with the control key and gets swapped rather than pinned in the door — and a user-rekeyable lock is another, resetting to a new key instead of being repinned. Keys are a third unit, billed per key cut: four doors keyed alike can still want a dozen.

Per opening, listing what that opening took. One door is an electric strike or a magnetic lock, a power supply and transformer, a request-to-exit sensor or push-to-exit button, a door position switch, the low-voltage wire run to each, and the credentials enrolled after. Bill wire by the foot and credentials by the fob; both grow after the walk-through. Write fail-safe or fail-secure on an electric strike line: it decides whether that door locks or releases when power drops, and it is what a facilities manager asks about after an outage. A magnetic lock has no fail-secure version — it lets go with the power — so its line carries the battery backup and egress hardware. Egress parts are not an upgrade to be trimmed: itemize them.

Everything after the opening line. Manipulation or a recovered combination leaves the container as it was and the paperwork short. Drilling does not: name the drill point, say whether a relocker fired, and bill the plug, the hardplate repair and the replacement lock apart from the opening. Safe opening can price flat or hourly; what is behind the hole cannot, until you see it. Then put in writing that a drilled container is no longer in factory condition and its fire or burglary rating may no longer describe it — it settles the argument when the safe is later sold or claimed on. Say which lock went back on: a mechanical Group 2 dial and an electronic keypad are different parts and different service.

As a different job, not a bigger one. A spare is a blank, a cut and a clone off a key that already works. All keys lost is origination: pulling the code by VIN or decoding a lock, cutting from nothing, then teaching the immobilizer a key it has never seen — on some vehicles the module comes out to the bench. Show origination, cutting and programming as their own lines, or the visit is priced against a hardware-store duplicate. Name the blade and the electronics separately: an edge-cut blade and a laser-cut sidewinder want different machines, and what rides on that blade — a bare transponder, a remote head with buttons built in, a proximity fob with no blade at all — is a different tool again.
